Today has been a sad day. I found out Tom Clancy’s latest novel in the Ryanverse, Locked On, released yesterday, has been ghostwritten. As was his previous work Dead or Alive. In Dead or Alive the writing had change dramatically but I assumed since this book focused on Jack Ryan’s son and completely new characters it was just another way to distance his new work from his previous.
…and Dead or Alive wasn’t that bad. It served its purpose a techno-thriller but had more sprawling plotlines compared to earlier works.
I was well aware Tom Clancy has lent his name to several franchises such as Op-Center, Net Force and Ghost Recon but always thought the Ryanverse was his and his alone…it’s a bit disappointing.
