If you’re into Urban Exploration I’ve been checking out a couple of good sites

Fallout-UE -This site probably has some of the most artistic photos I’ve seen yet. The Metro hospital and The Pines Hotel pictures are both work checking out. ( I really would have liked to have gone into the E before they gutted those two side buildings…or taken pictures back in `02 when the other side was demolished to make the gazebo.

Infiltration - An ezine filled with new reported locations, ethics of exploring and other resources for the interested to stay involved

Opacity - more locations

I was looking for known sites in Western KY and I did find something kinda cool. Two abandoned airports nearby that seem worth checking out. Who wants to come with?

Also, looking through some of these pictures has piqued my interest in digital photography. I’ve been doing some research on decent “starter” cameras…and I’m kind of looking forward to looking like an idiot and taking 50 million pictures of the exact same thing until I get the sense of what looks good =P

Geek Stuff.

I realized the other night I’d let my servers get a little dated…with the production release of FreeBSD 7.0 out I figured there was bound to be some security fixes which meant it’d be a good time to catch up. Before long, I realized it was nearing 8am and my first class (and that essay absolutely destroyed me, the rest of the test wasn’t bad though)

Getting done early, I decided to get on a computer and see how everything was going. Trying to SSH got me a timeout. Okay, maybe just sshd needs to be restarted locally.. Hm, can’t go to my web site? Try logging into my backup box.. uh-oh. Either there’s an outage in my area (unlikely) or something with portupgrade broke my router! ;)

As soon as I got home I saw my modem ready light was flashing…Turns out it was an outage and happened RIGHT in the middle of a php upgrade. make install clean ftw…

we’ll see

Woke up this morning to finish reviewing a bit for my business test today-err 30 minutes ago. Our instructor wanted to start the next chapter after everyone had finished their test. We have about 30 minutes left and half the class is still taking theirs. Might as well waste some time online ey?

It kind of works out, my instructor for this period is also my academic adviser and I finally got her to commit to a time to finish up my academic plan.

Here’s your faux pas for the day: In my writing class, my instructor was telling us about her planned trip overseas this summer. One of the guys asked about her housing arrangements while she was over there–more specifically if she was going to stay in a brothel =P After her jaw pretty much fell to the ground he was like “Shit Shit, A HOSTEL A HOSTEL.”

poor guy ;)

Well, I’m glad I decided to check school closings before I tried to head out on the road. I’m actually surprised OCTC is closed. The roads are annoying but not that bad. I’m actually kind of mad…I spent some decent time last night preparing for everything today and see what happens? =P

*sigh*

I caught the Eclipse last night. Wasn’t quite as awe-aspiring in my mind as the one in August but definitely quite enjoyable.

Blah, I dont know what to do with the day now…I think I’m going to go back to sleep =P

I finally watched The Departed last night…excellent movie. That’s about all I’m going to say about that. I really don’t have anything to write about except for I have another hour to blow until I have to go to work. I’m hoping that I might have at least one day next weekend off…I’d really like to go up to MSU for Campus Lights.. Maybe a Sunday? lol.

You know, I never thought I’d be angry with myself for actually doing my work.. So, for my classes today I went ahead and read the chapter and took notes on it…expecting some sort of discussion over the reading today only to find the instructor spoonfeeding everyone the information with no discussion at all. But, it just means I’m going to kick that much more ass on the test if I keep it up..

I was pleasantly surprised to see a decent amount of snow on the ground when I woke up…Snow is pretty much the only thing that makes winter bearable. Pure, Crisp, Relaxing…Oh, and next apartment I get.. I think I want a spot up front to avoid having to walk through the “Wind tunnel” of my building and the one apart from mine.. But, I also get a lot less traffic and noise being in back. Like most things in life its a trade-off.

Nothing is ever perfect. It’s such a cliche but it’s true. I guess the important question to ask is, “Does the good outweigh the bad?” Simple enough question and it applies to a lot of aspects in life.. As long as the answer to that is “yes” it’s worth it.

I’m enjoying the downtime though, sitting here with a cup of coffee, ruminating over some thoughts, listening to some sublime to get me psyched up for the night to come…

Good news! Things went off smoothly…I’m scheduled for classes and manage to arrange things so I go during the day and have Friday-Sunday free. This was I can work evenings and weekends and if I planned it right homework. Yeah, theres definitely not going to be any time for fun. lol

More to come later… One of the reasons I’ve been so upset is because I haven’t been active. It’s nice to be a student once more working towards a goal.

I may have my slumps and I may suffer defeats…but I’ll never quit striving towards my goals…and nothing will stand in my way.

The 9th I go schedule for classes for the spring semester. I should have been able to do it mid-Dec except for the multiple transcript requests I had to send to UK. I received some bad news regarding a hopeful place of employment. I was REALLY hoping to get that job and I’m surprised I didn’t even make the first round of interviews

But, one silver lining is I’ll be able to take classes during the day. Night classes don’t agree with me very well…something about sitting in one place for three hours, right after work, and without eating just doesn’t work. The only issue is whether or not I’m going to take 9 or 12 hours. I want to keep myself as busy as possible without burning out.

I just can’t stand not being productive. It’s killing me. At least with school it’s a chance to meet people, get some type of intellectual stimulation and I get the rewarding sensation of working toward a goal.

What to do what to do?

So, for those who don’t know I was working on being in ROTC @ EKU in Jan…Yesterday I had to go to Richmond for my medical exams…I think the fates are telling me not to go. Starting by the fact I spilled a cup of coffee on myself, got a flat tire which actually required it being replaced, my knee giving out on me at my exam (GREAT TIMING) causing me to fall flat on my face…and a couple of other things I’ve decided to
