I can safely say today was a productive day. Went out browsing for a couple of items for my apartment and it turns out Kirkland’s was having an incredible sale on portraits / paintings…kinda loaded up the car for stuff to put on my walls.. lol Of all of them, I think my favorite is this little 2×2 metal cast with a raised coffee cup simply reading “java” on the bottom. Perfect for a coffee junkie like myself ;)  Besides that, just got some assorted items that I need. It’s funny how little things like wall hangings can enhance a room.

and while (most) people are going to be off having bbqs and enjoying their 3 day weekend..I have to work 8:30-4:30. Oh well, Even though I’d rather be off I do enjoy working there so *shrugs* I really just want to be off so I can get back to playing MGS4. That game rocks!

There were a few events that were slightly odd… a shift that I really can’t put my finger on, but, my horoscope from dailyom kind of helped

“Trying not to control things but instead to simply let them take their course brings more tranquility into our lives. Our ability to release into whatever might occur may not be something that comes to us easily – even when we are the most relaxed, negative and worried thoughts may crop up. Once we know this however, we can easily come back to our state of peacefulness by using simple affirmations or prompts to gently help our minds release any thoughts that we are holding onto which also hold us back. By letting yourself go wherever life takes you, you will find tranquility in the quiet acceptance of the way things are today.”

Shot down. I stood. Withstood my neighborhood.

Well, I can safely say this hasn’t been a very good day. It started out with a minor annoyance of my washer deciding to leak all over the floor, no big deal. Cleaned it up, put in another work order.

In the middle of the night, I’m down at the Royce getting some coffee. Go out to leave…and my truck doesn’t start. I don’t think it’s the battery…I’m thinking the alternator. This truck is on its last legs. I can’t tell you the amount of times it’s died on me, take it into the shop, dies on me again. I was hoping to make it until August/September to get another car but I don’t think I can wait that long.

I think what made it so bad is sitting in the parking lot, I realized there’s not one person that I can call for help. Even for just a simple ride home…so I wound up calling a cab. Going to have to get the truck towed to a body shop tomorrow er this morning and try to figure out how I’m going to get to class.

But enough whining, it’s definitely an annoyance but, I’m getting it taken of.

It’s okay.

rear left. rear right.

I enjoy hearing those words. Lol. I went and got some heavily shielded speaker cables and finally ran the rear two speakers for my surround sound system. It’s amazing the difference that it makes and I’ve been sitting here watching misc movies off and on…speaking of movies. I stumbled across Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and bought it. :) It’s definitely my favorite movie of all time.

random note: Tazo’s Spiced Chai tea really isn’t that good…Tea from Wal-Mart is better. blah. (I just went and brewed me a pot)

I love having a clean apartment. Seriously. I haven’t actually “deep-cleaned” it in a few weeks. Having to move my entertainment center, couch and chair made me decide to bust out the dust cloth and mop and get to scrubbing. So, here I sit. In my quiet clean apartment, sipping on a cup of tea and watching Shadow chase around her little ball of yarn…yeah, after a couple of days I decided I like the cat. She hasn’t made a mess or scratched on the furniture yet and she seemed so helpless I decided to keep her. I know of some people who will never let me live this down. lol

Aside from that, not much has been going on. Class is still going well. I got my SAR from my FAFSA in and it’s looking like I’ll probably be in Owensboro for the fall semester as well. Surprisingly, I’m not too disappointed about that. While I definitely still want to move out of this town I’ve managed to achieve some stability in my life. As long as I’m still going to school full-time what’s the rush? Hopefully, by next Spring I’ll be able to head out…*shrugs* a lot can happen between now and then.

Talked to my brother for the first time in ages…him and his wife are going to try to make a trip up here in the next couple of months. If they can’t, I’m going to try to go down there again. Spend the week at Zoink catching tees. Yeah!

Oh, for anyone who has ever been a waiter I’ve got two awesome sites for you. Many of you already know of WaiterRant

but I’ve found The Insane Waiter is always good for a quick laugh.

I find myself craving a road trip very badly…hop in a car and hit the road. I’d really like to go to Colorado but I’ll settle for the chance to go to Murray and meet up with some old friends. Speaking of, I need a coffee buddy. Someone who enjoys heading down to the Royce late at night for a cup of coffee and a conversation. I’ve found myself missing that a lot here lately…

Anyone want a cat?

I think I might have adopted a cat

Coming up to my apartment tonight I saw a stray trying to curl up in a ditch meowing her little head off. My first thought was to get a box, fill it full of old blankets, get some food and water and be done with it.

I mean, my good deed for the day right? The cat wouldn’t freeze and had some food. No, the cat had to start scratching at my door…so when I went out to check on her she ran in the door and I haven’t been able to bring myself to throw her out.

A quick trip to wal-mart later got a litter box and some food. Yeah. I’ll keep her until Monday before I take her to the shelter. She’s young and cute. She’ll get adopted

*sigh* Or I might wind up keeping her.

it had to happen

It had to happen…one solid year of no one living beside me and now it’s occupied. Husband, wife and two little kids. They introduced themselves…everyone seems really nice. I’m just going to have to work on keeping it down a bit now I suppose.

It’s kinda funny how I ran into the guy though. He’s up on top the stairs smoking a cigarette and I kinda jump. First time someone has been there and they haven’t been coming to my apartment. =P Slightly funny

In other news I put a larger hd in my ibook.. I had forgotten how tricky those things are to get apart but it’s nice to know I still have the touch ;)

Common. Seriously?

*sigh* I’ve got to laugh… Seriously

So, I’m getting ready to go to bed. I’ve got all the lights shut off and I haven’t even been in bed for five minutes before I’m hearing someone outside my apartment falling down/up stairs. I hear random mumblings and then a loud beating on my door. Wtf right? Turns out it’s some drunk guy who is shouting for “Adam” to come out and blah blah mumble. I finally convince him “Wrong apartment man. No Adam. Go Away”

But, now I’m wired.. probably wind up going to the Royce here in a few. lol

What a way to wake up…

A little backstory is in order for this post. Water and this apartment have never quite gotten along. When I first moved in back in December of 06 I was delayed for a couple of days as they were repairing water damage to the roof…Which eventually caused part of my ceiling to collapse but I digress

A few weeks after I moved in I found out my shower was draining into the apartment below mine and they had to cut a huge chunk out of my walls in order to fix the pipes

About a month ago my washing machine started leaking everywhere

Yesterday morning my bathroom sink stopped working. No big deal right? Shower still worked, kitchen sink and dishwasher still worked. I put in a work order figuring I could get by until they come get it fixed.

I managed to get to sleep at a reasonable time when I hear the washing machine going. Now, it tends to be a little loud so I roll over and try to go back to sleep. It takes me a solid five minutes to realize that I don’t have a load in the washer that the sound has to be coming from somewhere else. I open my bedroom door to stand in a HUGE puddle of water thats getting dangerously close to my living room (and the spot where I keep the server that this web site is running on) First things first I throw some towels at the edge of the water flow to try to prevent the stream from reaching the living room. Check

Second step, go under the sink and turn off the water…Which involves opening the bathroom door and allowing another HUGE flood of water to come rushing out. Luckily, nothing got ruined except for the odds and ends I keep underneath my bathroom sink. The only thing now is I’m going to have to do laundry before I can take a shower…I think I got every single towel I have wet trying to get this all up. Where’s a good heavy duty mop when I need one?
