when it ends it all begins…

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Another Saturday, sitting at work with no customers and well, no one in the office. While it’s somewhat boring to sit here by myself I do enjoy the peace and quiet. Just another hour and a half until I get to gas up and head off to Louisville. Staying at a friends place for the night and hitting up the town. Must say I’m looking forward to getting out of town for the night.

…and VERY excited about Keeneland Opening Day! Already got my room reserved and meeting a group of people down there for the weekend.  Hard to believe I used to live in Lex and never made it there.

Weekend trip, Kansas next weekend and Keeneland in April…nice to finally be able to go out and do stuff.

I’m focusing hard on classes this semester. Had a big assignment I had to work on and was up until the early morning. Alarm goes off interrupting an absolutely beautiful dream. 15 minute shower and two cups of coffee later I’m finally awake enough to make my way to work.

Coffee, water, meal bar. Check
Computer on
Print out confirmations

…boss walks in…What are you doing here? I changed the schedule…You have wed off now. Lovely

Alice: What would my euphemism be?
Dan: She was… disarming.
Alice: That’s not a euphemism.
Dan: Yes, it is.

It’s a white hot soul I want to sing for

According to an interview with Billy Corgan on Q101 the Pumpkins are still scheduled to tour this year from April-December. No idea the locations yet though. Also, after a couple of weeks…I’m digging “Widow Wake My Mind”

“Accept the grace, the moment you are in
Accept the chase of where we must begin
‘Cause when you crawl, you crawl into my heart
And when you fall, you fall right in my arms”

Not really much to talk about. Same grind different time…but still doing what needs to be done. Just taking a while.

There is a mini road trip in the near future though. A couple of friends and myself decided to do a little tri-state tour. After realizing that none of us had visited Kansas, Nebraska or Iowa we decided to change that.

Early Itinerary:

  • Depart for Kansas City, KS immediately after work on a Friday and grab a hotel
  • Saturday morning will be spent checking out what attractions we can fit in National World War I Museum is definitely on the list. Waxy O’Shea’s is looking pretty tempting as well.
  • Off to Lincoln, NE for the Sheldon Art Museum (time permitting) and grab a hotel
  • Off to Omaha, NE…Hopefully things will be open on Sunday–still looking into that
  • Quick trip into Des Moines, Iowa…still planning that part
  • Back home!

Get to add three more states to my list. Still trying to look up various attractions for the trip but, this is more an excuse to visit some new places and get out of town for a bit than to really see anything in particular.

Snow day! For once Owensboro gets bombarded by snow on a day where I have class instead of work! No intentions on doing anything but sleep, reading and drinking a few cups of quality coffee of course.  It amazes me how without fail two things are bound to happen when bad weather is announced: Drivers will automatically forget everything they’ve learned about driving and you can expect mass panic in all grocery stores. One of the few times I see people running off with cans of condensed milk.

When I worked at AT&T I kept a website similar to Waiter Rant where I documented entertaining– or annoying encounters with customers. It was a positive way to vent without management or my other co-workers having to listen to it. Since the first of the year I’ve been preparing taxes and sadly our privacy policy is too strict for me to begin to generate a story on this site–and I’m not going to be there long enough for making an anonymous site worth it…which is a shame. I have so many crazy stories of blatant tax fraud and sheer stupidity that I’m burning to share. Ah well.

Balancing the tax gig w/ a full load of classes. I actually graduate this semester. Before you get too excited it’s only my associates. Oh well, smell steps can lead to great distances walked! The important part is the direction going. I’ve said over and over again I believe that repetition serves to prevent mistakes. Every path I’ve taken has had some mistake–different ones mind you. I feel like the totality of my mistakes culminate in this moment. There is a moment of clarity… I’m looking forward to my next journey.
