This made me laugh…
Thursday, August 27th, 2009Digging for the feel of something new…
Monday, August 24th, 2009The smell of freshly brewed coffee permeates the entirety of my room as today begins the one week countdown until class starts. Sadly, it also marks the last week I have of staying up late…I’ve been trying, rather unsuccessfully, to get myself into a normal sleep schedule. Oh well, having to do PT at 6am three days a week should quickly teach me the benefit of a solid nights sleep. I know its getting old but I’m ready for classes to start and to go out and meet new people! These past few weeks I’ve started…mainly just friends of the housemates but they’ve been really cool.
The weather is unusually cool for this time of year and brings with it the faint whisperings of fall on the horizon. It’s strange but bits and pieces are reminding me of moving to Lexington–not the insanity, but having everything in one room again, getting used to the schedules, ebbs and flows of housemates. Not to mention the joys of discovering a new town and campus. This semester is going to be different if just through sheer will alone. I still believe it doesn’t matter if you get behind or how many times you get knocked down that having the drive to work towards ones goals and ambitions is always the most important part.
Mainly, I’m just glad to get out of Owensboro. I have no intentions on going back there before Thanksgiving.
Right now the biggest task is looking for employment…I’m hoping the applications I put in earlier this month will get some attention before everyone who just moved in also goes out and starts looking.
All in all I can’t shake the renewed enthusiasm and optimism. My only thoughts are to excel in school and find myself a solid group of friends.
*sigh*

I just read an article saying special seats to “cope with the rising obesity rates” have been installed in Metros. REALLY? Hey, maybe the shame might convince them to lose a little bit. I realize there are those out there with health problems that will directly lead to weight gain (thyroid problems for example) and that more people might eat a more balanced diet if fresh fruits and veggies, healthy cuts of meat etc came down to a more affordable level. Hey, you can make a homemade tuna helper for about $1.58 and that’ll feed you for two meals. What healthy meals do you know for the same price? But, a lot of it comes from not running out and grabbing that double quarter pounder with bacon, or the big bucket of fried chicken for dinner. Spend some time and actually cook. Especially if you have a family!
It’s the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together. Tell your id to calm down and go cook something that doesn’t give you a heart attack before you put the burger down.

If you haven’t already, check out This Is Why You’re Fat that site cracks me up.

Resolution: One and done
Sunday, August 9th, 2009I wanted to wait a few days until I got moved in and most of my items situated. I have a few small items back at the apartment in Owensboro and need to give it a general once over before locking it up which is probably what I’m doing tomorrow. Still feels like there’s that Owensboro tie until I give up the key for good.
The guys seem like well, a good group of guys…Thanks to a window unit my upstairs room is now livable…All of my stuff is finally unpacked and situated. The house needs some work but between the five of us I’m pretty sure we can turn it into something awesome.
Now, this is nice…First day fully settled in and I’ve already found a 24/7 place to get coffee. Just going to finish up this cup and head to bed
