I’ve definitely been enjoying the past couple of nights. I’ve been staying up until 8-9 am to try to get my body accustomed to the 3rd shifts that are about ready to come my way. Of course, I’m a night owl anyway so it’s not too hard…Finding something to occupy my time has been the only troublesome aspect of it all.

These past few weeks of being unemployed, broke and being a hermit have forced me to occupy my time rather productively. Thanks to google reader I’ve managed to stay informed on current events which has greatly improved conversation amongst those who care about such matters.

On top of that, I’ve setup a windows 2003 virtual machine to play some more with Active Directory… I’ve forgotten most of what I knew about it. When funds come my way I really wouldn’t mind building a POS server and setting up a dedicated 2k3 box. I’d like to have dual servers communicating in a multiple server environment.

Setup a Fedora Core 7 machine as well…as far as the binaries go the syntax should mostly be the same but administration/conf files are almost completely different…same with package management. It’s not on the front burner but it’s definitely up there to play with.

Getting resources in line and still taking care of the day to day grind.

And of course the routine self-examination. Determining truths, falsehoods…digging deeper within myself. I’m slightly afraid of my dependence on learning more about technology to keep myself stimulated…it could be a repeat of 2005 and I find myself quickly burned out. I try to take breaks often and am hoping my slow dive into the world of economics and politics is enough to provide a distraction.

I find it captivating to follow my interests… Put it on a timeline and see the greatest influences…and compare it to the list of major events in my life.. It’s funny how it changes. I do know I need to find a balance, yet there are certain issues I’m not willing to compromise on. Because of that, it will take a little extra time to get things in balance…I’m not too concerned about that. As long as I just read a few books, go for a walk, or hell.. even watch TV and get engrossed in a program I’ll be okay.

Actually, I take it back.. This is ME. I’ve always had an avid interest in Computers, Politics and Economics….with an occasional dabble in psychology and criminology. Those are my interests.. hah… ain’t it funny.
