I haven’t made a post of substance here in quite some time. I thought I would share something funny that really made my day.

I found out I didn’t get the job with DCPS which is making me rethink my plans for the upcoming year. Computers Plus was made bearable for the sheer fact I thought I was getting out.. after finally getting caught up and everything done within two days theres over 3 dozen computers again.. I feel like Sisyphus.

I definitely am going to get back into school and I’m leaning towards Murray instead of going off to who knows where.. A nice compromise if I do say so myself.. Not sure if I’ll go back in the Spring or next fall.. It depends on if I could find a place and how the loans pan out..

So, I’m listening to Zeitgeist (and of course I had to go buy it the day it came out!)

It’s a really rocking album so far, the opening track is “Doomsday Clock,” they’re second single which was played on Letterman the other night. Blasting guitar riffs and some serious drum bashing dominate..

At the end of “United States” theres a lick reminiscent of Jackboot. So far it’s been the only song on the album (I’m only about halfway into it) Where there’s just a nice breakdown and some jamming. This song in particular has gotten a lot of negative reviews because of this but, it’s one of those things that a true fan wants.. and has the newcomers listen more I think they’ll develop a taste for it.

So far I’m really enjoying this album, Not too glam and they’ve gotten away from the new wave feel from their last few albums. It’s sterotypical pumpkins mixing loud with quiet, plenty of guitar and Chamberlain on drums reigning in Billy’s rants and musing. Some of it seems to be lyrically suspect, but i’ll attribute that to lack of familiarity with the songs.

Zwan, was a disappointment I’m not going to lie.. It had a couple of tracks I really liked the album as a whole was a letdown. Billy’s solo effort TheFutureEmbrace was a pain to listen to but so far with three tracks left I’ve been able to listen to this straight through. I love the way it manages to mix the raw intensity from their early demos / Gish with the maturity that has been gained through the times. While I will say it’s not going to be genre defining like Siamese Dream or MCIS was.. It’s definitely a nice change of pace from the albums that are on the shelf today.

Oh and did I mention.. The Pumpkins are playing at the Ryman in Nashville!!!! Tickets go on sale the 14th.. Yes. I will be there. Seeing the Pumpkins in a small venue is going to be insane. I never dreamed I’d have the chance to see them live, much less in such an intimate venue as the Ryman!
