So, thanks to a little program called Defygo (i’m assuming I can talk about this?) I’m able to update my blog from my brother’s computer in Athens.

After about an eight hour drive (I got stuck in traffic about 50 miles outside Athens) I made it to Athens to see Steve and Kim (my brother and sister-in-law respectively) They’ve moved since I last visited from an apartment to their own house (which they’re selling.. I’m glad I got to see it before they moved.) The last time I was here was the summer after my freshman year of high school. Needless to say I was pretty excited when I walked through the door.. and just like the first time I came down (besides their wedding) I was offered a drink before even getting my stuff in.

Kim is the most AMAZING cook ever. Every time I eat over here I’m surprised by how filling and tasty vegetarian cuisine can be.

I got in at a decent hour and after a quick supper the cards were busted out and we started playing Spite-and-malice and of course there was a pretty stout drink beside me. I’ve been playing this game with them on and off for about 6 years…it’s come to be a tradition for when I come down here. We all crashed out pretty early which was semi-disappointing but waking up early the day before, the drive down and the alcohol that was consumed I think it’s pretty reasonable I crashed.

Today has been a real laid back day.. I woke up around 7:30 (how did that happen?) got some coffee and started reading Naked by David Sedaris. It’s a collection of short stories, most of which proved to be entertaining… but I digress. Kim’s sister Kristina was up here and hung out with us throughout the day. It was nice getting to catch up with her a little bit. The last time we saw each other was at my brother’s wedding.. I was 10. Needless to say a lot has changed since then.

Went to the dump to get rid of their old Christmas tree that was leaning up on the side of the house (Yeah, it’s been that long) but the line to get in was backed up to the road.. they had a guy walking back to each car asking their load to try to speed up the line. When he got to us and we told him what we were dropping off he just said “five bucks” and pointed to an empty spot on the yard… I wonder how much money went in his pocket.

I was introduced to the most filling vegetarian restaurant, The Grit. I ordered a tofu and veggie platter with a side of potatoes. My experience with tofu as been fairly limited so it’s understandable why i was semi-hesitant at first . IT WAS DELICIOUS. I also tried part of Kris’ ..Texas .. I can’t remember what it was. oh well, it was good.

Things calmed down shortly after coming back to the house. We all lounged around for about an hour letting our food digest until Kris had to hit the road and go back home. Shortly after she left, Steve took me Downtown where I surprised myself by not spending any money (I have to get a momento before I go back though) There were some crazy stores.. Music stores, random places with posters galore.. ahh I can’t even name it all.

Wound up stopping by UGA and doing a walkthru of the majority of campus. It’s incredibly beautiful.. it’s just so big! I can walk from the dorm circle of Murray across campus in about 15 minutes.. It took us 15 minutes alone to navigate most of North Campus alone! I’m vaguely considering trying to transfer down here. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to handle the complexity of a larger city/campus but I feel I would be shorting myself if I didn’t at least try.

But, it’s time for me to wrap it up. I’m going to Zoink (my brother’s business) tomorrow and helping him the little ways that I can. I think I should be heading out of here Tuesday morning.. if all goes well I might stay and extra day or two. So much for spending some quality time in the `boro. Oh well, I’ve lived there long enough. It’s time to go out and some fun.

I apologized if this entry has been jumpy.. things have been pretty exciting these past couple of days. Hope everyone is having a good Spring Break!
