Stayed home from school today.. really didn’t feel motivate enough to go.
My 250GB HD crashed in my main machine.. Completely dead, fdisk didn’t show it, hooked it up to another computer and nothing showed up not even in device manager
Thanks to a little thing called The Ultimate Boot CD and a part of it called TestDisk it throughly scaned all cylinders and ressurected my partisions
So the data is there.. I can browse and edit it using this cd but my computer won’t boot.. I tried the old standbys.. fdisk /mbr etc.. but alas no dice.
The first time it crashed I got NTLDR not present so.. i’m going to try fixmbr from recovery console if all else fails I’ll image it, get the files I need off, format and reinstall
EDIT 1: My Administrator password was locked out (disabled) and the recovery console did not give me the option of logging on to another account. I used Hagen’s offline NT password recovery software (also on Ultimate Boot CD) to unlock the account and reset the password.
EDIT 2: fixboot and fixmbr SAVED THE DAY
It’s back up
