Tuesday, February 1st, 2005Too much work has gone into bringing this K6-2 back from the dead!
Of course.. It was free but still
Problems
1.) Video Died
2.) Secondary IDE cable bad
3.) CD-ROM = Double Speed
4.) Floppy drive dead
Oh.. and the CMOS battery is dying but that’s a minor problem
Solutions
1.) S3 Trio3d was donated to me :D
2.) Had spare
3.) Replaced w/ 16x CD-ROM / 4x burner I had lying around
4.) New Floppy drive donated to me
Now, this wouldn’t be bad if it had all happened at once.. but it took a while to get everything straightened out.. But, the hardware stuff didn’t bother me as much as the PROBLEM I HAD FINDING A FLOPPY DISK
God, I never thought i’d actually need a boot disk.. and I had a total of 5 floppies.. each of them not working
At this time I should have went to Office Depot and picked up a few.. but no. I was being lazy and tried EVERY OTHER WAY to get Windows 98se installed. Finally after the 8th format one of the disks worked
There was data on the drive I wanted to keep.. so when I run the FULL INSTALL of Win98se.. I get an error message telling me I need the upgrade disc.. so I said screw it all and formatted =P
