radio plays my favourite song

The radio isn’t a real radio though.. but its someone telling you exactly what you want to here

“What is it you want? What Is it you want to change?”

“I am the radio you are the radio we are the radio”

IT’s about perception and about how yourself, the others and both can alter your perception of what you want

Music reviews always said that “I of the Mourning” was Billy bitching about how he wasn’t #1 on the radio any longer and that the radio stations should play him..

“Radio play my favorite song”

Would he be saying that his own song (he had many singles) is what he wants the radio to play?

So the radio is a person who is telling you what you want to here.. and Billy is telling the “Radio” that he’s alone and begging him/her not to leave him

I peer through curtains on empty streets
behind a wall of caller i.d.
noone’s out there
to hear if I care
about the troubles in the air

He’s hiding from the people who will tell him how things really are and get him out of his fantasy land

He screens his calls to pick up/reply to only those who will tell him what he wants

Noone is out there.. but the truth is there are people out there.. just no one is saying what he likes

That’s one possible interpretation but parts of the song don’t match it

Here’s what doesn’t match

cause I’m home to die on my own
as my radio plays my favourite song

If he’s home alone.. what does the radio represent? Could be drugs? An escape of some sort from his loneliness

He mentions “blow the dust of my guitars”

So maybe.. the radio is his other side that comes out during songwriting.. and he’s actually asking himself what is it you (I) want to change?

This is a bit disjointed.. but merits more consideration.. hmm
