Seriously Cracked. Screw You

It’s not my fault. I’m a leftie or 5 Reasons Being Left-Handed Screws You for Life

“Southpaws also get sick more often, possibly due to left-handers’ lopsided brain chemistry. Research done on “true” left-handers (excluding those fence-sitting ambidextrous types) showed that lefties were 2.7 times more likely to suffer from immune disorders and 2.3 times more likely to have been hospitalized at some point. It’s not their fault — the double curse of left-handedness and the risk of spending your life in a plastic bubble likely came from your mother stressing out during pregnancy. Ironically, she may have been stressing about the possibility of pushing out a left-handed freak of a kid.”

International Beer Fest Lineup

If ginger cleanses the palate in between sushi rolls…does it work for various types of beer? GLE released their selections for this years International Beer Fest

Bell’s Brewery Hopslam & Sparkling Ale
Brooklyn Brewery Monster Ale
Clipper City Brewery Heavy Seas Peg Leg
Dogfish Head Beer 120 IPA, Pangaea, & Sah’Tea
Founders Brewing Co. (Official) Imperial Stout
Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. Barrel-Aged Siberian Night
Three Floyds Brewing Behemoth, Dreadnaught, & Moloko

I’ve had most of these, albeit not all on tap…I’m probably going to stick solely with Dogfish Head and Three Floyds…

I’m particularly excited about 120 Minute IPA on tap .. it’s only brewed a few times a year, goes fast…and is about 18% ABV and 120IBU. I’ve never had Pangaea and Sah’Tea nor have I tried Three Floyds Behemoth or Moloko….I have had Dreadnaught before on tap and it’s excellent…probably buy a pint of that but save one of my samples for something else.

I’ve had Bell’s Hopslam, not interested in the Sparkling Ale… Clipper City Peg Leg is supposed to be a very flavorful Imperial Stout…but, really I’ve yet to meet an Imperial Stout that really distinguishes itself.

I’ve had the Founder’s and absolutely HATE anything Bourbon Barrel.

Looks like I have my lineup for the day.

What is the English translation of “Squirtle?”

..was one of the trivia questions tonight and the answer was spoon. Nights like tonight are what I love… about 40-50 people in teams sitting around enjoying the night, drinking quality libations and having fun. No one got (noticeably) drunk… There was no loud music playing… just… great conversation, great games and great drinks. I spent three hours at a bar and am only mildly tipsy… where else could that happen?

I enjoyed hanging out with people just as esoteric as myself. I find myself to bit a bit more lonely than I’d like..But, I’m really cool with that. It’s strange how that can be so yet I’m still incredibly proud and very very happy. I’m in a transitional phase…Only in the past year have these great changes happened and it’ll take a while for the next phase to progress.

So, I guess that’s where I’m at. I’d rather spend most nights at home and have a handful of true friends than stay constantly busy with people who simply offer lip service.

We came in second tonight but remain in first overall with two weeks to go…Go team sheltos!

Today has been beautiful in so many ways…. and now it’s time for Team Trivia! I’ve had to miss the past two Thursday’s due to finals and my semester project but it’s gametime. My only regret is that they haven’t gotten in any new IPAs… but, there is supposed to be a refreshing APA out…

and only a few more days until the International Beer Fest. I wonder if I can buy some baby back ribs and bring it in Gambrinus….that would be the killer combo!

I feel like a dolt….while the first summer session starts up today I didn’t bother to check that I’m enrolled in the second….Imagine my surprise when I sat in an empty room for 10 minutes wondering what the heck was going on. But, if one has to err it is better to err on the side of caution.

Happy Derby De Mayo

Only today have I learned about Owensboro’s truly authentic, family owned, Mexican restaurant, La Reina De Mexico. It’s half-market, half-restaurant and all incredible. Dispelling the notion that true Mexican food is hot while ensuring a proper blend of flavor and spice throughout the dishes. It’s safe to say this is now my favorite Mexican restaurant in town…

…and like Saw Asian Market I’m going to have do to some experimenting in the kitchen. Hopefully, with better results.

I know ultrabooks are the next big thing and tablets are the thing now… but, I love my desktop replacement. Two years later and this laptop out performs almost anything out there and has a righteous set of speakers.

Although… about 3 hour battery life on a 9 cell battery *kind* of sucks. But, longevity is good. Still hoping to pick up a coffee table tablet though.
