Digging for the feel of something new…

The smell of freshly brewed coffee permeates the entirety of my room as today begins the one week countdown until class starts. Sadly, it also marks the last week I have of staying up late…I’ve been trying, rather unsuccessfully, to get myself into a normal sleep schedule. Oh well, having to do PT at 6am three days a week should quickly teach me the benefit of a solid nights sleep. I know its getting old but I’m ready for classes to start and to go out and meet new people! These past few weeks I’ve started…mainly just friends of the housemates but they’ve been really cool.

The weather is unusually cool for this time of year and brings with it the faint whisperings of fall on the horizon. It’s strange but bits and pieces are reminding me of moving to Lexington–not the insanity, but having everything  in one room again, getting used to the schedules, ebbs and flows of housemates. Not to mention the joys of discovering a new town and campus. This semester is going to be different if just through sheer will alone. I still believe it doesn’t matter if you get behind or how many times you get knocked down that having the drive to work towards ones goals and ambitions is always the most important part.

Mainly, I’m just glad to get out of Owensboro. I have no intentions on going back there before Thanksgiving.

Right now the biggest task is looking for employment…I’m hoping the applications I put in earlier this month will get some attention before everyone who just moved in also goes out and starts looking.

All in all I can’t shake the renewed enthusiasm and optimism. My only thoughts are to excel in school and find myself a solid group of friends.
